He was born in Shunde, China in 1928. 
His parents were wealthy Chinese gold traders.

In 1948, at the age of 20, he arrived in Hong Kong as a Refugee with $1,000 Hong Kong Dollar in his pocket (About $200 US). 
His first business was trading gold and currency. 

At age 48, he founded Henderson Land Development 

     




He made his fortune by buying land in the New Territories, he bought land in fishing village of Shatin and another village Yuen Long
