He was born to one of the poorest area of China, Henan 

Province, when he was 1 year and 3 month old, his mother died

At the University, he did not have money to pay for books and pay for food.  He survived on 14 Yuans a month or about $2 US a month -- what a feat 

In 2017, the stock price of his company Evergrande rose 400% propelling him to be Richest Man in Asia (for a short time)

 





Strange enough, Hui Ka Yan has built many ghost towns in China
