He is most famous for having made the Greatest Trade Ever in 2007 shorting the subprime mortgage

 







He made $20 Billion Profit for the firm, $4 Billion for himself

Prior to that, he was quite obscure

Actually, he also suffered the Greatest Collapse, cause after his phenomenal trading sucess from 2007 to 2011, he started to lose money at an alarming rate.  

By 2018, 90% of his customers had fleed him, and his asset undermanagement went down from a peak of $38 Billion to $8 Billion
